Binance Loses EU Access as Greece Rejects MiCA Bid Six Days Before Deadline Greece pulled the plug on June 24. binancecoin:native withdrew its application with the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, and one week later, tens of millions of users across France, Italy, Poland, and Spain lost access to the world's largest crypto exchange. The July 1 deadline MiCA had been building toward for two years arrived, and Binance wasn't on the right side of it. 🇪🇺 How Binance ended up outside the EU The exchange had been pursuing registration through the HCMC, Greece's financial regulator, as its MiCA gateway to the single market. When that application collapsed, there was no backup authorization in place. CoinDesk reported that Binance notified affected EU users directly, citing the failure to secure a license as the reason services would halt. Per https://t.co/gAaigPQ9wr, France is now the target for reauthorization, which would let Binance re-enter the market through a Paris-based entity, but that process won't happen in days. The exchange employs over 1,500 compliance staff and has spent years restructuring its legal footprint globally. None of that was enough to clear the Greek regulator in time. 📉 The outflow numbers Binance had been processing roughly 18.5% of euro-denominated spot volume before the suspension. That's not a rounding error. In the three days following the announcement, the exchange recorded multi-billion dollar net outflows, per data cited by Cointelegraph. Users pulling funds weren't waiting to see what France would bring. ⚔️ What rivals are moving into Kraken already controls 43.3% of the euro-denominated spot market, per CryptoQuant, and holds a full MiCA license through its EU entity. Coinbase $COIN, https://t.co/lPaC5PvqAz, and OKX have been pushing localized campaigns toward Binance's displaced user base since the withdrawal news broke. For any exchange that spent the last two years doing the compliance work MiCA demanded, the next few months represent a genuine land grab. Four of the EU's largest economies are now a more open field than they've been in years. 🔑 What reauthorization through France would actually require The French Autorité des Marchés Financiers runs one of the EU's stricter MiCA implementation regimes. Getting authorized there would give Binance EU passporting rights and restore access across member states, but the AMF has shown no inclination to fast-track applications under political pressure. Binance hasn't disclosed a timeline. ethereum:native and other assets continue to trade freely on the platform for users outside the affected jurisdictions. For EU-based holders, the question is how long reauthorization actually takes and whether they wait or move.

Six years ago, when I joined Binance, I have been pondering this sentence: “Exchange the world”. What exactly is Exchange the world? At first, it seemed to me more like a grand brand expression. But over the years working at Binance, I increasingly feel that it is not a slogan, but a process where a team solves problems every day, refines products, and pushes user experience forward. In 2020, Binance P2P, BNB Smart Chain, Launchpool, and Binance Earn were successively refined: users are not only trading, but can also buy crypto with lower thresholds, enter the on-chain world, and manage asset yields. In 2021, Auto-Invest and Binance Pay helped more ordinary users understand that crypto is not just volatility and trading; it can also be long‑term allocation, daily payments, and a part of real life. In 2022, Binance Feed launched, later upgraded to Binance Square, allowing users not only to trade on the platform but also to obtain information, express opinions, and connect with the community. In 2023, Binance Web3 Wallet launched. At that time, people said the wallet was still not convenient enough. What I saw was the product‑research team truly collecting feedback everywhere and polishing the experience step by step: lowering the mnemonic phrase barrier, optimizing on‑chain interactions, and bridging CeFi and DeFi entry points. That same year, Copy Trading launched, enabling more new users to lower the market‑understanding barrier by observing and following experienced traders. In 2024, Megadrop and HODLer Airdrops launched. Binance linked Simple Earn, BNB holdings, Web3 Wallet, and early‑project opportunities, allowing users to participate in early industry bonuses in a more systematic and transparent way. By 2025, Binance Alpha further turned “early project discovery” into a product experience that users can truly engage with. Official data shows that in 2025, more than 13.2 million Binance users entered the Web3 ecosystem through Binance Web3 Wallet, cumulatively completing over $546.7 billion in transactions. To me, this is a concrete evolution: areas once criticized by users have become points of user choice and data validation. Senior sister @heyibinance once said: “The strongest opponent is actually oneself; Binance also needs to defeat itself to evolve.” Every day working at Binance, I can feel that our team is indeed doing this: listening, being pragmatic, iterating quickly, constantly overturning our previous selves. When users say something is not good, we look, ask, and change; when the market shifts, we rethink how the product should serve users; the industry …

Everyone talks about tokenized stocks Not enough people talk about what happens after you buy them That’s where I think the real competition begins The latest research from DefiLlama Research and CoinDesk Research points to an interesting trend: → Access matters → Liquidity matters → But ecosystem matters even more Some numbers that stood out are here: Firstly: 7,000+ U.S. stocks & ETFs available on Binance. Second: Nearly 60% of tokenized equity spot volume during parts of June, with @binance at times processing more volume than the rest of the market combined. Third: bStocks reaching $100M AUM only two weeks after launch. What makes this more interesting is that the journey doesn’t end with buying an asset Through Binance Stocks, bStocks, and BNB Chain, users can move from real stock ownership to self-custodied on-chain assets while keeping exposure to the underlying equities From there ✔️ All those assets can interact with DeFi through protocols like Aster, Venus, Lista DAO, and PancakeSwap To me, that’s a much stronger indicator of where this market is heading than simply counting how many tokenized stocks an exchange lists Pretty neat tbh.

For a long time 👇 I thought tokenized equities were simply about putting stocks on-chain After going through the latest research from DefiLlama Research and CoinDesk Research I think the conversation has evolved It’s no longer just about access It’s about building the entire ecosystem Here are a few things that stood out to me: ▸ 7,000+ U.S. stocks & ETFs available through @binance compared with around 1,000 on Backpack according to the research. ▸ During parts of June, Binance captured nearly 60% of tokenized equity spot trading volume, and at times even out-traded the rest of the market combined ▸ bStocks crossed $100M in AUM just two weeks after launch What I found even more interesting wasn’t the numbers It was how everything connects Instead of relying only on third-party tokenized equities Binance has built an integrated stack through Binance Stocks, bStocks, and BNB Chain. That creates a smoother path from real stock ownership to self-custodied, on-chain assets, while maintaining exposure to the underlying equities And it doesn’t stop there 🤷‍♂️ Those assets can be used across the BNB Chain ecosystem through protocols like - Aster - Venus - Lista DAO - PancakeSwap And bringing DeFi utility to equity exposure To me, that’s the bigger story The next phase of tokenized finance won’t be won by whoever lists the most assets. It’ll be won by whoever builds the best ecosystem around them If Binance Stocks and bStocks are available in your region, they’re worth exploring. LFG
