Proposal #12222
Why this poses a real security threat to our chain? Simple I’ll explain below 👇
Bridge and IBC integrations expand the attack surface dramatically because they involve complex interactions between on-chain logic, off-chain relayers/validators, and cross-chain messaging.
Historical bridge exploits show the pattern clearly:
• The Ronin Bridge lost $624 million when attackers compromised a majority of validators (via phishing), allowing them to drain escrowed assets.
• Wormhole lost $320 million when a flaw in signature/guardian verification allowed minting wrapped tokens with no underlying collateral.
These are not isolated! bridges have accounted for billions in cumulative losses, often through validator/relayer compromises, missing security checks after upgrades, or logic errors that let attackers fake deposits or drain reserves.
IBC-specific risks in Cosmos ecosystems are also documented. The 2022 Dragonberry vulnerability in the ICS-23 proof specification a
