Here are a few things that stood out. 1. Valuation $SYN currently has an FDV of around $130M, which still feels relatively early to me. For context, Coinbase recently acquired Deribit for $2.9B. $HYPE also went through a similar stage before the market fully recognized its potential. Relative to the on-chain options market $SYN is targeting, a $130M FDV doesn’t look particularly expensive. 2. Tokenomics The token model shares several similarities with $HYPE. No VC equity. Governance is entirely token-based. Under the current design, roughly 80–90% of protocol revenue is expected to be allocated by the DAO toward buybacks, creating a straightforward flywheel: Revenue → Buybacks → Token Demand 3. Ecosystem Synergy What stood out to me the most is that $SYN doesn’t appear to be competing directly with $HYPE. When market makers sell options on Hypercall, they need to delta hedge on Hyperliquid. That could translate into higher perpetual trading volume, more protocol fees, and potentially more buybacks for $HYPE. 4. Market Positioning $HYPE has already established itself as the leader in on-chain perpetuals. $SYN is focused on on-chain options, while also expanding into products such as SPX OTM and 0DTE. $HYPE has already demonstrated strong demand for on-chain perpetuals. Whether on-chain options can follow a similar path is something the market will have to determine over time. I’ll be watching closely.
