After the $280M Drift exploit, a lot of people are probably asking: could this happen to other protocols too? Take Hyperliquid as an example — a large share of USDC still sits in the Arbitrum bridge, secured by a 3/4 multisig with ~3 min timelock. At the same time, native USDC deposits to Hyperliquid via CCTP are already live. If you want to reduce risk exposure, it makes sense to use CCTP-only deposits going forward. Alternatively, you can withdraw via the bridge and redeposit via CCTP to migrate from bridged to native USDC — helping accelerate the migration overall.

The tweet suggests users deposit USDC to Hyperliquid via CCTP to reduce Arbitrum bridge risk, especially after the Drift exploit.

$285M drained from @DriftProtocol in 12 minutes. April 1st. Not a joke. Most post-mortems stop at "compromised key." There were two of these in 10 days. Neither happened the way most people imagine. Here's the actual mechanic ↓ — ➠ One Week Before the Hack: Drift Migrated to a New Multisig The setup: ▸ 2 of 5 signing threshold ▸ 0-second timelock (instant execution, no delay) ▸ 4 brand-new wallets ▸ 1 carryover signer from the previous structure That carryover signer was the load‑bearing wall. Five hours before T=0, the carryover signer proposed changing Drift's admin address. One new signer co‑signed. Threshold met. No delay. Admin control transferred instantly. At that moment, the attacker had full unbounded authority over the entire protocol. — ➠ They Used It in 12 Minutes Across 31 transactions, the attacker created a fake spot market for CarbonVote Token (CVT), a worthless token they minted themselves. They assigned a Switchboard oracle they fully controlled, then pumped it to make 500 milli

Tried something cool today that I think many aren’t aware of: Confidential Swaps, which just went live on @near_intents. It lets you basically swap any asset, and what you swapped, what you received, and where it went are all untraceable. You deposit into your Confidential Account, and from that moment, you are inside a sealed environment. Here’s exactly what I did (see screenshots below): 1. Deposited 2k USDC on ARB. 2. Moved 2k USDC from my main account to my confidential account. 3. Swapped 2k USDC into ETH. 4. Sent that ETH to another confidential NEAR address I control. 5. Moved USDC from confidential to main account 6. Withdraw to wallet Ok, some notes. How you use it matters. If you do as I did: deposit 2,000 USDC, swap to to 0,97 ETH, but instead withdraw instantly to the same address, an on-chain degen could still connect the pattern. The input and output remain visible on the edges, while what happens inside stays confidential. Real confidentiality comes from how you handle the flow. For e

It was just a crazy day, and anyone wondering why Zachxbt and others were so pissed it’s because Circle allowed this and never cared. They would rather sit on the fence while a whole house is burning than do anything to stop the fire. Anyone monitoring the funds movement yesterday will definitely be so angry at Circle, because what exactly are you a centralized entity for when this kind of issue would take seconds to handle, yet you ignore it? Wallets held millions for 3-6hours post-bridge before swapping to ETH. Just for example: 0x586d353D718B168C3891c9a8162dD2b523bEd741 0xAD383d6b3886b598F48c625437ccB4f8E84dBB48 Circle is a bad actor for the industry.

Update: $230M+ USDC bridged via CCTP from Solana to Ethereum across 100+ txns. 6 hours is how long Circle had to freeze stolen funds from the $280M+ Drift hack. Circle is a centralized stablecoin issuer headquartered in New York and the attack began around 12 pm ET. Why does our industry allow them to stay silent? @jerallaire @circle @usdc
