i just learned that the first ever airdrop happened in 2014
it was a fork of litecoin aimed at iceland (called auroracoin)
the devs pre-mined half the supply and then distributed it for free to every icelandic citizen based on their national id (330k people)
it was around $900 per person or $290M total at peak (obv not enough liq)
they basically started the meta
partially thx to them we have been airdroped $40,000,000,000 over the years
