The real lever lies elsewhere. ⚠️ 200 MILLION - THEN BRUSSELS PULLS THE PLUG As of today, Europe imposes an upper limit on dollar stablecoins in payments. Non‑euro tokens such as #USDC and Tether receive a hard daily cap of €200 million in turnover. Once the threshold is reached, Brussels steps in and the token is stopped in payments. A second limit also runs, directly at the level of individual transactions, at about one million operations. Meaning: control at the transaction level around one million. Together, both limits prevent a dollar stablecoin from serving as a major everyday payment method in Europe. It may remain for speculation, but as real money for trade and payments Europe puts a barrier in front. And this is exactly the point that the ‘protection’ label hides: it is really monetary policy. No dollar token may dominate European payments, no matter how safe it is for the individual user. Circle ‘wins’ Europe only as long as $USDC stays small enough not to disturb the ECB. If it grows beyond the threshold, the cap kicks in. ⚠️ BRUSSELS’ OWN EURO‑COIN FAILED If it were truly about protection, Brussels would have a straightforward answer ready: a strong European euro stablecoin that replaces the dollar tokens. Such a coin even exists. It is called $EURC, Circle’s official MiCA euro‑coin, and it amounts to roughly €382 million. That is a fraction of a percent of the entire stablecoin market. At that number the protection narrative falls apart. There is a law, a stamp and factual compulsion, while the home‑grown euro‑coin remains a ghost. A cap that brakes dollar tokens without building a real alternative has nothing to do with protection and everything to do with control. ⚠️ YOUR MONEY GONE AT THE TOUCH OF A BUTTON And then there is the process that reveals everything about the EU’s choice. Circle has once frozen 12.6 million USDC. In a single contract, because ONE depositor was flagged. All other users in the same network were frozen without any fault of their own. Think of this as a principle. Your balance then no longer depends only on your own behavior, but on the flag situation of completely foreign wallets in the same contract. A user you have never seen gets flagged, and your money is blocked. Exactly this model is certified by Brussels. The freeze‑able token is deemed "compliant", while any token that cannot be centrally shut down is excluded from licensed trading. This shut‑downability is the real purpose of the rulebook. ⚠️ WHO REALLY HOLDS THE SWITCH HERE Draw the whole arc out, and the pattern becomes clear. In the USA the Senate just voted 89 to 10 to ban a digital central bank currency until 2030. Private dollar stablecoins are state‑backed there and allowed to grow. In Europe it’s the opposite: dollar tokens are capped, the home‑grown euro‑coin is meaningless, and "compliant" chiefly means shut‑downable. 🚨 SlowMist: Edeldot finance was attacked, losing about $350,000 According to SlowMist disclosure, the DeFi protocol https://t.co/Gbwui5JGcT suffered a flash loan + donation attack, resulting in a loss of about $350,000. The attacker exploited a design flaw in the ERC-4626 vault where the price source directly reads the totalAssets() balance, injecting assets via direct transfer to inflate share price, then manipulating the oracle to siphon funds from the Aave Pool. The vault did not have a TWAP, interest rate cap, or donation protection mechanism.
