When Was Ethereum Created?

Ethereum was originally introduced in 2013 in a whitepaper written by co-founder Vitalik Buterin. With the help of his fellow co-founders, Gavin Woods and Anthony Di Iorio, Vitalik Buterin secured funding for the project via a publicly accessible online crowdfunding sale in 2014. The project acquired enough funding to launch the blockchain on July 30, 2015.

Ethereum (ETH) is a decentralized platform that runs smart contracts, defined as applications that run exactly as programmed without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud, or third-party interference. These apps run on a custom built blockchain, an enormously powerful shared global infrastructure that can move value around and represent the ownership of property.
