    In no way am I sticking up for #circle, I’m just curious, without bias, there are millions of transactions per day Many large amounts bridged too The attackers moved the money across 100 transactions I’m assuming to avoid detection Were they perhaps aware of $USDC red flag detection requirements? Circle has to tread carefully Unlawfully freezing accounts creates the “your just the same as the banks” FUD and monitoring millions of transactions is a difficult problem Saying that 6 hours is a long amount of time And the main question here is how long in to the attack were they officially notified They should have to adhere to minimum emergency response times same way police would if a bank was being robbed I don’t think we should expect circle to ensure every protocol has done their security audits and created bullet proof multisig set ups #drift

    Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has accused Circle, the issuer of USDC, of allowing more than $420 million in alleged compliance failures since 2022. ZachXBT said over $232 million in USDC moved after the April 1 Drift exploit. He also cited the 2026 SwapNet and 2025 Cetus Protocol exploits ZachXBT alleged that Circle either took minimal action or failed to act quickly enough while illicit proceeds remained in freezable wallets.
