Is a battle tested DeFi protocol pivoting from synthetic assets to a high performance Ethereum Mainnet perp DEX the right bet or is the transition too late?

Synthetix has undergone a major rebuild and is no longer primarily a synthetic assets protocol:

- Synthetix Perps launched on Ethereum Mainnet in December 2025 using a hybrid CLOB architecture.
- SNX staking now earns trading fees directly from the perps exchange with 100% of protocol revenue directed to systematic SNX and sUSD buybacks.
- Legacy Synths on Optimism were deprecated February 1, 2026. Multi-collateral trading (ETH, cbBTC as margin) and basis trade vaults are now targeted for Q2 2026.
