    3/ The catalyst it all hinges on: the Aero merger. Aerodrome (Base) and @VelodromeFi (Optimism) are merging into one protocol called Aero. Announced Nov 2025 by Dromos Labs, the shared team behind both. Target: July 2026. What it actually does: → One liquidity layer across the Ethereum L2 Superchain, expanding to Ethereum mainnet and Circle's Arc → A new operating system, MetaDEX03, with verified pools for institutions and Slipstream V3 to claw back value that leaks to arb bots → A single AERO token replaces VELO, split 94.5% to AERO holders and 5.5% to VELO, based on revenue contribution → 100% of protocol value routed to AERO The pitch is simple: stop fragmenting liquidity across chains, and take the fight straight to Uniswap and Curve. Nothing here is live yet. This is the ship the price is already paying for.

    5/ Money: a rare DeFi protocol that actually makes it. → Trailing 365d: $169.6M in fees, $129.2M in revenue, 100% routed to veAERO holders → Earnings flipped POSITIVE in May and June after months in the red → No VC raise, no treasury overhang. It launched as a community veToken protocol, not a funded startup. The caution flag: over the last 30 days, fees fell 18.7% and revenue fell 29%. Fresh data, and worth watching against the positive-earnings turn. Grade: B+

    6/ Team: stable, and staffing up on security. → No verified departures this year → New hire: @rileyholterhus brought in as in-house Security Lead for MetaDEX03, the all-new Aero, hand-picking researchers across audit firms (referenced Jun 18) For a protocol about to migrate its entire liquidity base to a new system, hiring a dedicated security lead BEFORE the merger is the right order of operations. Grade: B+

    7/ Metrics: A negative to mixed bag Since Dec 31: → TVL: $452M to $311M (down 31%) 🔴 → Fees, trailing 365d: down 27% 🔴 → Revenue, trailing 365d: down 34% 🔴 → Market cap still ~72% below its Dec 2024 peak → Price Up: 34% in the last 30d 🟢 One real bright spot: daily volume is up ~40%. Capital on the platform is trading harder, not fleeing, so this is efficiency, not an incentive-farm mirage. But every trailing line is red. The price push seems to be mainly because of the upcoming July merger but $AERO holders would be hoping its not a sell the event. Grade: B−

    8/ Tokenomics: no cliff, but a faucet that never shuts off. → 1.93B $AERO, no max supply. A ve(3,3) token that emits new supply forever. → Good news: zero VC unlock bombs. Nothing is cliff-scheduled to dump. → Bad news: ~15% structural dilution per year at the current run-rate, minted to pay LPs and voters. The offset: ~51% of supply is locked, average ~3.65 years. Lockers collect the rebase and the fees. Everyone who does not lock eats the inflation. Grade: C

    9/ Verdict: Hope, bought on credit. Aerodrome is the best business we have reviewed in this series. Dominant on Base, real cash flow, 100% to holders, no VC overhang. But the price is already up 11% while usage contracted all year, which means the market has pre-paid for a July merger that has not shipped yet. If the Aero / MetaDEX03 launch lands, today looks cheap. If it slips, the fundamentals underneath are still shrinking. Final grade: B / "Hope, Bought on Credit." Not financial advice. Always DYOR.

    $AERO has spent more than 500 DAYS building a base. The breakout is what could change everything. Most people only notice a chart after it’s already gone vertical. The better opportunity is usually when an asset spends months getting ignored, holding the same support while sellers slowly run out of pressure. That’s exactly what $AERO has been doing. After an 85% correction from its local high, price has built a long accumulation range and is now starting to break higher. The real trigger isn’t today’s candle. It’s a clean breakout from a structure that’s been compressing for over a year. The longer a base takes to form, the more violent the expansion often becomes once supply is absorbed. If buyers keep control here, this could be the beginning of a completely new trend not just another relief rally.

    $AERO is approaching the first major resistance. That doesn’t mean it’s time to turn bearish. It means the market is about to reveal whether buyers are strong enough to keep the trend alive. A clean break above $0.55 opens the door toward the next liquidity zone around $1.57. If momentum remains intact, the previous major distribution near $2.20 becomes the next obvious objective. One level at a time. The first breakout matters the most. If bulls reclaim it with conviction, this structure could accelerate much faster than most expect.
